There was medal glory at the London International for Croydon players.
On Sunday 17 July a short trip over to the University of East London for Vali, Przemek and Ashley, with support from Coach Tim, lead to some awesome judo and medal success. Vali and Ashley competing in the Masters -90 kg categories had some hard fights ahead of them in a big weight group. Vali fought well showing that he’s well on his way to medal success in future events but unfortunately not on this occasion. Ashley pulled out all the stops reaching the final only to be beaten into second place and leaving with Silver.
Przemek at a slim 118kg bought home a Bronze, in the +100kg, fighting the real big players. In recounting one fight he said afterwards “I attacked the big Georgian …” at 160kgs “.. with my best technical he just wobbled slowly …. I saw the ceiling, the floor the judges table … it was all over.”
