Brian Curran recounts the story…..
“On the 8 March I travelled to Sheffield with Callum and Bobby to the British Schools Judo Championship. Bobby was first up on the Tatami and started his day with a very good, first fight, win.
In his second fight he put in a good performance but was defeated. His progression depended on his third fight, whilst he put in another great performance it was not to be, Bobby loss put him out of the competition.
Callum won his first fight very well and went on to win his second fight, a good but hard contest. Callum then had a long break whilst he waited for the other competitors in the pools to fight. His next fight gave Callum his chance to get into the final, he fought very hard and secured his place in the Gold medal match. Another long break as competitors fought through the repechage for bronze. Finally the final was here it was a fantastic fight which went all the way to the bell. Alas it was not to be Callum's day and losing by a waza-ari. So Callum is now the British School Judo Silver medallist.”
Well done Callum congratulations from all of us at the Club.
